How Can Construction Companies Stay on Schedule?
In a recent ConstructionDIVE post, Kim Slowey provided advice on how to juggle limited resources across multiple projects to meet the schedule agreed upon in the contract. A lot of the problems arise from subcontractors and this article provides advice for working with subcontractors including: Get a detailed schedule weeks ahead of time, use medium to large contractors, go back to the same subcontractors that you have a relationship with, look for subcontractors with separate teams assigned to different departments like estimating and field operations and ensure they are willing to work overtime if needed to catch up. U.K. Construction Firm Bans Workers from Having Beards
The Guardian reported that the U.K. construction company Mears has banned its workers from having beards in order to effectively wear dust masks when working in dusty environments.
